The Harris 15620F1 Stay-Silv® 15 brazing alloy is a silver-bearing phosphorus-copper filler metal used for joining copper and copper alloys, commonly specified in air conditioning, refrigeration, and general HVAC installations. The alloy contains 15% silver and 5% phosphorus, offering improved ductility and a wider brazing clearance range than lower silver content alloys.
This alloy is suitable for copper-to-copper joints without external flux and can also be used on copper-to-brass applications with an appropriate flux. Its broad melting range (1190°F to 1475°F) and strong capillary action allow for effective bonding in varying joint tolerances.
Stay-Silv® 15 is intended for use by professionals familiar with torch brazing processes. Apply appropriate joint spacing for capillary action, clean all surfaces thoroughly, and heat uniformly. Use flux only when joining copper to non-copper alloys. Avoid use on ferrous metals due to lack of wetting action.
Commonly used in commercial and residential HVAC and refrigeration systems where high mechanical strength and moderate clearance fit-up are required. Not recommended for electrical applications or structural components under mechanical stress without evaluation.
