1/4 Inch ID x 3/16 Inch ID Copper Reducing Coupling – Wrot Copper, Solder Joint
This 1/4 inch ID x 3/16 inch ID copper reducing coupling is designed for joining copper tubing of dissimilar inside diameters in low-pressure applications. Manufactured from wrot copper, it is suitable for use in potable water systems, HVAC installations, and other compatible non-medical fluid distribution networks. The coupling features cup (socket) ends for soldered connections using lead-free solder and flux.
Material and Dimensional Standards
✅ Material: Wrot copper conforming to ASTM B75
✅ Configuration: Reducing coupling with socket ends sized for copper tubing
✅ Connection Method: Solder (sweat) joint
✅ Applicable Tube Types: ASTM B88 Types K, L, and M copper tubing
✅ Certification: NSF/ANSI 61 and NSF/ANSI 372 (lead-free compliance for potable water)
✅ Code Compatibility: Suitable for installations under IPC, UPC, and local codes where copper solder fittings are permitted
Installation Notes
Preparation includes cleaning the tubing ends and fitting sockets with emery cloth or a fitting brush. Apply flux to both mating surfaces and assemble the joint. Heat uniformly and apply solder until full capillary fill is achieved. Allow cooling before pressure testing. Only use lead-free solder where required by plumbing code.
Common Applications
Branch line reductions in potable water piping systems
Refrigeration and mechanical connections in HVAC systems
Compact transitions in limited-space assemblies such as appliance hookups or equipment tie-ins
Performance Note
Wrot copper fittings are corrosion-resistant and capable of handling both hot and cold water systems. When installed correctly, they offer long-term mechanical reliability in residential, commercial, and light industrial piping systems.
